The Content Management Software (CMS) is upgraded to Xoops 2.5.3 (the latest version). Thus far, we have just upgraded and not migrated to something different, like Joomla.
I have the forum upgraded to the latest module for XOOPS. You should see some social networking icons at the bottom of each post and a few other items that are a result of upgraded forum software.
ALA members should also be seeing an ALA Downloads section above the "Recent Replied Topics" block so you can now download the Trader and LIVEBEARERS without using any special password. It is all tied with your login now. You will also see an "ALA Downloads" link on oyur left menu in the "Interactive" section".
Really need to re-skin, re-theme, or whatever you prefer to call it, so the site shows the upgrades a little better.
I have tested a few of the free themes but nothing is really that hot. I think we need to move this 2 column skin to a 3 column one and tweak the CSS to make some of the text more readable.
I am installing some modules now, like News, Articles, and a plugin that is supposed to help with user registrations and automatic renewal reminders.
So far, everything I've used has required some sort of hacking to get it to work. Or it has been necessary to meld two features from different modules into one.
The site is now using reCaptcha and all the blasted bot registrations should come to a cease. When a person registers they now have a much harder captcha to solve before the form actually submits.
I am also in the process of installing a few new editors. This will make the interface you use to compose threads a lot more modern.
With a new skin and some CSS tweaking, the site will look a lot different in appearance.
She got her engine overhauled but still needs a paint job, so to speak.
