Hi there! I'm no longer breeding or keeping Fancy Xiphophorus, but when I did breed an already bred (Fancy- not Hybrid) Swordtail or Platy I experienced mixed broods of the previous male/s offspring and the new male's offspring after a couple of drops.
The old sperm is weaker than the new and eventually you'll no fry from the old sperm.

this is mine black males of swordtails, right now they are ~7-9cm long and just now the swords start to grow, the problem is that cant find females like them i wonder if they will mate with 2x smaller female

Thanks Mr. Mefford, great to hear from you. It's entirely possible that I had mixed paternity in broods but declared them to be from one male or another because most of them appeared to be so. I'll have to watch more closely, just out of curiosity.

Another thing which I have read and experienced is if you try to breed a Fancy Swordtail who is already bred to a Swordtail with a Platy or a Fancy Platy who is already bred to Platy with a Swordtail, you usually won't get the cross because the sperm of the same type (Even though people think they're so mixed that there's not much difference), is stronger than the sperm of the different type.

lost both of giants in one day mabe ate somethink not eadible. And for gold lyretails, i have some of them, i will post pics latter, but i have to warn you they are hybrids of Velifera and Lyra.

Would be great if someone would share some information about the food they gave to own fishes.

I am interested in getting at leats a trio of the gold lyretails you have. It is the color I am interested in. The color is very hard for me to acquire here in san Francisco. I can get black silver calico but not the gold or gold nugget or anything like you have. I have been trying to breed black out of mine to get ehm. As you know that takes more than two generations. please email me and we will see what we can do before the summer gets over.
