I think there is an option to buy all of the back issues of the magazine. So you don't need to kick yourself too hard.

Dunchp is right about ordering the back issues. I ordered about 25 of them a while ago and plan on getting the rest soon.

Kees de Jong, of Poecilia Nederland, http://www.poecilia.nl/ and an ALA member, on a semi-regular basis, publishes and distributes freely, an index of livebearing articles from all of the organizations and magazines. It is pretty comprehensive. He has been doing this for at least 15 years that I can recall, and it has been very useful when researching a species.\
And you need not worry about 'reinventing the wheel'...articles are always useful, sometimes there is new information on bhevious or setups, and all contribute to the overall knowledgebase of Livebeares.

Experience with life and fish in general is all you really need for the BOD, or for any position in the ALA...common sense and a willingness to contribute is the key criteria [and being a member for at least a year of the ALA].

Livebearer experience is just a continuim that requires keeping and learning about your charges--as you you know from being involved in fish--and doesn't really translate to the 'club side' of the hobby.

I'm sure you could contribute with your involvement while learning more about livebeares...
