Lol Earl, the spawn of satan huh. Poor little buggers never get recognized for their cute little pointy shells and their adorable shy personalitys. It must be hard being a MTS.

I like MTS in my planted tanks. They do tend to overpopulate tho. The guys in our local club who breed egg laying fish hate them with a passion.

Dear FishFolk,

I got Aptasia from Chaeto grass that I got from another club member. This was in a brackish, Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis (Bluebacked Blue-eye) tank that was almost ocean strength. They liked it at 1.017 specific gravity but evaporation and laziness about water changes (mixing up brine) often took it to 1.023.

They grew into a colony that I thought was cool until I discovered them eating fry and juvenile fish. That was the end of them and the grass.

Earl

Just browsing this old thread. Hydra actually sound like fascinating creatures - "biologically immortal"!!! - but I can see how they'd be pests if there are small fry around. Does anyone keep hydra for fun? I'm thinking they'd be interesting for a school...

Brooklyn,Hydra are related to sea anemones, jellyfish, and corals, these are the phylum Cnidaria family. They don't have eyes, but they can sense light. They are very small and difficult to see without a magnifying glass.I kept a reef tank for many years and one day out of no'whwere, small jellyfish started to appear.
