I think it might be male because if you look at this picture(female): http://www.livefish.com.au/images/lyretail.jpg in yours you can acctually see the little male bit...not 100% sure though.
If you look closely at the anal fin you can see that it had two points and distict rays in between them. A male's gonopodium wouldn't look like that. A few years ago I had Red Albino Lyretail "Guppytail" Swordtails in which some of the female's anal fins were just like the fish in the photo.
A few years back, some Blood Red Albino Swordtails showed up in the stores (I'm pretty sure that they were imported from Asia). Some, not all had Veil tails. They were labeled "Guppytailed Swordtail". Like a lot of imports the original stock was hard to keep alive and to get fry from, but once you got fry and raised them, you were on your way! The fry which I got from a female with a full Veiltail were Lyretail and common finned, no Veiltails. These fish looked very similar to the "Super Sailfin" Blood Red Albinos and probably were related (some also had the Hifin trait and were quite impressive). Some guy was selling this strain as "Crowntail Swordtail" on Aquabid a while back.
I remember Veil Blood swordtails few months ago on Aquabid. They were mostly likely were imports from Asia. So far the Veils were still uncommon, but Super Blood Red swordtails are common.
