I was considering goodeid at first as well, still not decided but the tail definitely looks goodeid. I would rule out the ricefish as well. Most of them have more of a hatchet bodyshape and different finnage. There are a couple not-so-common ricefish but I don't think so. don't see halfbeak either. You might see what sort of backtracking you can do as to the origins and might be able to figure it from there. Could also be a Cyprinodon of some sort which is basically like an egglaying goodeid but have many similar body shapes. Not sure of any with a mouth shaped like that though. Could also be some sort of minnow, either native or foreign. I'd spend most of my time researching goodeids though. Kyle

Lets just called this Ilyodon "aquarium strain" as they have no history or location data. I do have a male Ilyodon furcidens "aquarium strain".

Well it is Ilyodon but it do look like furcidens, just not for sure.

Your Ilyodons look like more furcidens than whitei due to the coloration on caudal fins.
