I've been waiting for someone to pipe up and say something like, "Patience? Melody? Do you not remember when you first joined the ALA?" LOL I know it's hard and that's exactly why - good Livebearers are tough to find. But I've never been to an ALA event and I was around before the forum was here, so it is possible and it will happen for you.

I was going to mention Charles before but I always mention him and it occurred to me that I should be letting other breeders offer first sometimes too.

I'll look forward to hearing about what you've scored as you search... and pictures!

Melody,

Yes, once you become a member and people get to know you, a lot of them will go out of their way to help you.

Karl Trochu who doesn't usually work with Platies has promised to keep my line of Bleeding Heart Platy going until I'm able to get back into breeding. He tried to keep the Hifin Rubynose Variatus going, but lost them.

When I was looking for certain old issues of TFH, FAMA and The Aquarium magazines, I had people (including Mr Glenn Y Takeshita) offer to run copies of the articles and mail them to me pre-internet.

Derek Lambert packed some of his line of Bleeding Heart Platy and hand carried the over from England and GAVE them to me.

I've all sorts of kind gesters done for me over the years by ALA members and some non-ALA hobbyist!

Steve,

You might like to check out former ALA chairman Greg Sage's fish. I saw him speak at SAKE this past March and he brought with him some astounding swords. Some of the males were enormous with sword I swear six inches long.

(BTW,I have also purchased food from Angels Plus. Wish I could buy 12 ounces at a time packaged in 1 ounce packets, though. I have lots of very small fish!)
