It's not as complicated as people try to make it. But to get good Koi color you'll need to breed back to the best Koi even after the trait is captured on Lyretail.
Your F1's will probably not show the Koi pattern, unless the Lyretails are carrying it. It will appear in the offspring of the F1's.
