Has anyone tried these for their fish? They are pretty cheap so I am thinking about getting some for some frogs I have, wondering if my larger fish would be interested.

Dear D9VIN,

I feed D. hydrei (larger) and D. melanogaster fruitflies to many fish. A lot of livebearers are surface feeders and will enjoy the flies.

I originally got flies for halfbeaks but found a lot of fish would eat them.

Best wishes,

Earl

We often focus on omnivore/herbivore/carnivore, but most livebearers have insectivore habits to one degree or another. They're only limited by size and agility. If the insect can be caught and fits into their mouth, it's lunch.

I have a jar in my living room with old fruit that can fill up with those flies in about 10 minuets. The ones I feed are red and about the size of a small pinhead. My fish love them and they are great for feeding fry.
