Hard to find a decent picture of this fish. I've maintained G. metallicus on-and-off for many years, though - are the eyes of falcatus actually brighter than those of metallicus?

I remember seeing a tank full of them at That Fish Place in the '90's, but I can't remember the eyes. I DO remember they were something like $1.99 each or so. How I miss the "golden age" of TFP...

Just to make it a more interesting thread...let's open it to discussion on ANY Girardinus. Because I want to know if anyone has EVER seen a male metallicus reach the colossal length of 2" that I often see reported in the lit.

Dear FishFolk,

I've never seen a 2" male G. metallicus.

However, the G.metallicus fry I got at a club auction have grown up into 5 males and 3 females. I've fry in the tank.

Best wishes,

Earl

I obtained G. metallicus not too long ago and they have quickly become some of my favorite fish. I had no idea that the females were so attractive and I LOVE that black chin on the males. They behave themselves in a community setting too.

We have Falcatus and Metallicus in the hobby, are any others available at the hobby level?
