That is a great system. I might have to really try something like that when I get all moved in and my fish room back up. I have been using those same tubs for a couple years now for growing out fry of my killies and small livebearers and they were always kind of a pain for weekly water changes due to the smaller size. The water went a little funky with all of the live foods by the end of the week. Thanks for the post.

Did you think about using over flows from the backs of the tubs? If so why did you decide to go from the bottoms?

Went through the bottom so that a simple pull of the center tube almost completely drains the tub. Also makes the drain pipe simpler and safer. Going through the side would require additional joints to do the same job, and an elbow is a place for things to get hung up.
