Every now and then some of my plastic box filters break,the tube that supplies the air to the box filter always seem to snap off,right where they join.I repair them with polystrene cement,(ethylene di-chloride),better known as EDC.I bought mine in a hobby shop near where I live.This substance actually dissolves the plastic for a moment,welding it securely as the liquid evaporates.

Is that the same stuff they started to restrict sales on a few years ago, that we grew up building model cars with? I thought that had some kind of ketones in it that people were using to get high for a while.

No,your thinking of Model cement,which contains ethyl acetate and petroleum distillates.EDC is not a glue,it dissolves plastic for a moment,it also is in nail and polish removers.
