Hi, my name is Larry and I've been keeping guppies for a while but am moving on to mollies and swordtails. I look forward to learning from everyone in this community and Happy New Year to everyone!

Also, if anyone knows of the price of female lyretail swordtails, or knows of anyone selling them, please let me know =]

Welcome and happy new year, plenty to learn around here from the seasoned vets on swords and mollies. Forums have been slow but I think most get on and check for new submissions anyway. As far as prices for fish goes a good place to look for good stock (prices can vary) is Aquabid, it's the ebay of the fish market. It's slower in winter but still some decent activity.

I would try a local fish club. There are several in southern California. You can get a starter list here:

http://www.aquaworldaquarium.com/Local_Fish_Clubs.htm

but I think there are more than are listed. But I would try asking around that guppy club in Riverside, or any of the southern california killie clubs first. Many people who are serious about guppies also keep other livebearers, and many people who keep killies also keep livebearers since the fish are closely related (livebearing vs eggbearing toothcarps).

Welcome to the forum! My favorite livebearers are H. formosa and most varieties of swordtails. Every now and again I'll write a guide on how to keep fish (I've only written 2. Give me IDEAS!!!).
