You might already know this, but there was also an article on Poeciliopsis baenschi in the April 2009 TFH.

I would be interested to know more about bagging fish. Do you prefer regular bags or Kordon breathing bags, what are the pros and cons of each?

I just got a pair of these "Golden Teddies" today and was wondering if anyone on here has had them, if so could share their experiences with them. They are in a 10 gallon planted Walstad style tank. I was hoping to let any fry they produce grow up in the same tank.

I want to order some Golden Pearls but am not sure what size to get. What size do those of you who feed them use?

Also, more than one Betta of any sex usually can't be housed together. Most likely one will kill the other.

5 gallons would be too small for swordtails too. Out of the fish that you chose, probably just the three platies would be your best option.

Sadly, the nearest aquarium club for me is 3 hours away in the next state and they hold meetings in the middle of the week. One of the main reasons I joined the ALA was to have access to some of the harder to find livebearers.

Yes, I do realize it rains in a livebearers natural habitat But I figured the dilution effects of rainwater would have more of an impact in my small tub than a lake or river. I have had probably 6 inches of rain in just the last week. My pH and kH are high too, but gH is low so I increase hardness in my tanks.

I am thinking about adding some livebearers to an outdoor container pond for the summer. I know plenty of people do this, but I was wondering if rain is a problem since especially in heavy downpours a lot of soft water will be added in a short time. Will crushed coral or something like that prevent the gH from dropping too quickly and stressing the fish?

I was curious to know if anyone here ever buys fish from local fish stores anymore, or do you feel they are too low quality, carrying diseases, etc. If you found an interesting strain or species at an LFS would you consider buying from them?

I think things are a little different these days, there are so many other things like computers and sports taking up kids' free time. I am sure, however, that there are still many out there that enjoy or would enjoy the hobby. I think you have a lot of good ideas Gerard, that you posted on the "Help Get the Word Out" thread. My son is 15 and while he likes fish and enjoys having a tank in his room to look at, he doesn't have much interest in getting deeper into the hobby. Maybe someday...
