Livebearer breeders in North Texas

I am finally up and running at 100% and am looking to get some of the livebearers that I lost in my move. If there are any livebearer breeders in the Dallas/Fort Worth area or in North Texas in general that wouldn't mind talking with a new transplant please shoot me an email or a Private Message. I am really looking forward to getting some fish going again this summer.

Thanks, they do have the common red eyes of albinos. I might pick some up today and see what happens.

Do you know if anyone has crossed a blacksword with and albino type yet? Possibly a solid white swordtail. Something I might have to try.

Koi Swordtail Genetics

I was wondering if the Koi Swordtails that I keep seeing in Petcos are an albino or not. The Petco down the street has two males with no female but they have some nice Painted Swordtail females. I thought it might be interesting to cross them and see if after a generation, you could get a Swordtail with a all white tail and orange head. What do you think?

That is a great system. I might have to really try something like that when I get all moved in and my fish room back up. I have been using those same tubs for a couple years now for growing out fry of my killies and small livebearers and they were always kind of a pain for weekly water changes due to the smaller size. The water went a little funky with all of the live foods by the end of the week. Thanks for the post.

Did you think about using over flows from the backs of the tubs? If so why did you decide to go from the bottoms?

If you live in Arizona, Arizona Game and Fish is looking for volunteers to help with stocking and monitoring of some of our native fish species. If you are interested in donating some time, a little sweat and a lot of laughs contact David Orabutt (DOrabutt@azgfd.gov) Conservation Coordinator of The Gila River Basin Native Fishes.

I get to do my dream job of working with reptiles. I cant wait. I will be moving almost all of my fish which will be a chore to say the least. I am really looking forward to moving and exploring a new part of the country.
I am hoping that I can start putting more of my fish out doors. I will be setting up a 125gallon pond when I get settled in. It will have live bearers or maybe some killifish I dont know yet. If anyone from the dallas area reads this shoot me an email, I would like to know more about the area.

Well I managed to get my dream job last week, starting the end of August I will be working at the Fort Worth Zoo. So I will be leaving Arizona which is a bummer, but I am really looking forward to the new job and the move to a new area.
Which brings me to my question, how many members here are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Is there a Livebearer club in town?
I will be moving all of my tanks over and many of my livebearers I think will be living outside for the rest of the summer and into the fall. I would really like to meet other livebearer keepers in the area and learn to do some collecting if it is ok in texas. I look forward to meeting anyone in the area.

I would love to go do a collecting trip south of the border. I would really need to read up and take my Freshwater Fishes of Mexico with me.

If anyone here is planning a trip south let me know and I might try to tag a long. I would really like to go do some collecting with someone who knows the tricks and can speak spanish.

I did, I will be the happy owner of three reverse trio of Poeciliopsis prolifica. I hope that they will do well for me and that some day I can get some of the other species as well.
