The first thing you will want to do is supplement their diet with garlic to prevent infection. 2nd, you should increase their protein intake to make their fins heal faster. The only thing you can do after that is wait, in my experience.

Glass. Aside from being tougher, it is also much easier to fix if a panel cracks (it has happened to me many times). If cost is an issue you can build a tank for half the cost.

Really? You like a week straight of 110 or above?

It's a dry heat. You eventually get used to it.

Hi Steve!

I'm Alex Barnes and I joined the ALA back in '06 (At 11 I was probably the youngest member at that time). I currently have been working on some Xiphophorus strains, trying to get them as deep orange-red as possible while keeping their tails yellow and black.

I also keep 2 saltwater show tanks with 4 Moorish Idols (my oldest is about 4 now) in a 500 gallon beast and 1 stonefish with a snowflake eel in a 55 gallon tank.

If you put a dense layer of floating plants at the top you can keep the fry in the same tank as they will be able to hide from the adults (most livebearers have a tendency to eat their fry). Most of the time the fry will eat bits and pieces of the food the adults get but if you want to you can feed them live baby brine shrimp and deshelled brine shrimp eggs. The deshelled eggs are mostly protein (read: supplement) but the BBS have more nutrients in them however, they lack protein which is why I like to feed them in conjunction with deshelled brine shrimp eggs.

The only one I recall being in the southwest was the '08 convention in San Antonio. I was able to make it to the '08 convention and it was great but I'm SURE there are other places in the southwest that have livebearer clubs!

Most catfish can tolerate salt (I even converted some over to full-on saltwater once). If I could only remember which variety it was....
