Those Marineland Double Bright LED light couldn't be the highend LEDs because they have so many, without reflectors only for 120$. Right?

I believe only the high end LEDs may only have enough PUR to give high light requiring plants to penetration past 2 feet in the aquarium.

For some information on lights check out http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Lighting.html
They have a few good products too but I wouldn't advocate for all of them. Also, for those specific products I haven't figured out if I can get some of their stuff cheaper at local stores. For example, their CFL's are well priced but including shipping is a different story while their T2 lights I can't find at other stores although I have yet to hit the Hydroponic stores.

How do you raise your fry?

I was wondering what other people do to raise their fry. Specifically but not limited to how you feed your fry.

I understand I'm not the expert here but this is what I do.

I colony breed, so don't change the fish to fry tanks. I currently change water 75% once a week (I know I could be doing more). I feed my fry live food I've cultured once per day, and sometimes twice a day, mostly microworms and sometimes Vinegar Eels but the fry are getting big enough to start taking something bigger. I also feed them once to twice a week human grade powered spurillina bought at a health food store in hopes that this will help balance out the gut loading I'm doing of all these live foods. Lastly, I put plants in the aquarium for a couple of reasons. One is to create some foliage for fry. Another is it helps the aquarium chemistry.

Here some of my personal questions I hope to get answered through this post, however primarily I posted it to hear what others do for raising fry. Is the extremely small sized of the powdered Spurillina good enough for my fry? Would it be wise to invest in some sort of spurillina flake food or veggy food for them? Is spurillina good source to help balance out all the fatty live foods I'm feeding fish with. Am I feeding it frequently enough? What other good or better sources may be recommended for help cleaning out the digestive system or at least balance out the diet of my fry.

This post is truly amazing, words don't describe. Really!

It is inspirational.

There is only so much one can do with a 20 gallon tank and I refuse to put the money into more Glass or Acrylic tanks.

Problem with website

I'm having trouble finding a post about turning a children's outside pool into a huge indoor or outdoor aquarium or a small pond idea.

At first I thought I could easily find this post. The more I looked on the website the more I realized multiple Subforums tend not to work when switching going to the next set of pages.

I guess this problem hasn't come up or happened with others much maybe because most of the subforums have to have enough posts that more posts are found on another page displaying them. I have only created this through picking search from the beginning option and thus giving me a second page or multiple pages to choose from but every time I go to another page it shows it completely empty.

I though I would share the possible bug that I may have come up upon. (or maybe its something with this forum that I just didn't learn how to do yet)

On a side note if anyone can find that topic of one of the members putting pictures of their multiple banana plants in their mini indoor plastic aquarium to suck up nitrates and used foam to prevent the aquarium from being or staying too cool because it is in the basement cement floor. That would be greatly appreciated. I want to set up another aquarium except I'm not interested in paying so much money for a class or acrylic see through display tank.

Wow! You have me rethinking my 'no fish room' policy.

And seeing all these fish rooms and ponds makes me want to explore the idea of making some sort of pond.

Changing my no more then 2 tanks set up policy.

Is that a male Skiffia Multipunctata?

My male never got any black on him so far during this mating season. One reason why I'm thinking what I got aren't Skiffia Multipunctata however they are less then a year old so it may too young to get black during mating season. I'm really not sure.

As you stated Patrick my fish definitely look like a Skiffia Multipunctata variant.

Thanks Patrick you always help tons!

Yeah I don't think my male is more attractive then yours and to me yours is pretty attractive imo.

Thanks for the links to Goodeids Website again. Very informative and helpful. I found the Andropodium, took a little more observation then I thought.

I have forty plus fry and I may have females that recently gave birth pregnant again before the mating season ends.

I've very confused about this fishes Genetics. I've been searching and taken a lot of time online websites and I'm having difficulty identifying this fish. At first when I was told this fish was a Skiffia Multipunctata I thought these black spots identified that these are males. Eventually when it started getting big I just folded and decided it had to be a female despite what I was told what type of fish these were.

So far all I can confidently say is I'm pretty sure that the male is a Skiffia based on how the top fin looks similar to the following link picture of Skiffia Lermea However, beginning of the fin is not spiky at all just lower then the rest of the rays and the coloring is quite different then anything I've searched online. There is a tint of see through blue on the top fin and only recently is it starting to get some light yellowing on the tail fin. Now that the male is gainning more color I can't figure out what Skiffia it is.

I'm showing you a picture of while she is pregnant. I wish I could get some better pictures. I'm also confident that this is a females on the goodieds family.

I really don't know how to work the camera all that well, but I guess once I barrow it from whatever family member has it now I'll get some pictures of the male. Hopefully it will come out better then this one (which is my best one out of a ton of pictures I got) btw, Ignore the little algae it is gone currently.
