Question about Platies
#1

2
Hello, I've been dabbling with platies for a little bit and was wondering if there is any tips/tricks I should be aware of? My set up is as follows

- 3 ten gallon tanks - 1 for males 1 for females 1 for when its breeding time

- ph 7.2, temp is around 78, no salt. 50% water changes every other day, bare bottom

- Fed veggie based food with a splash of protein

am I missing anything? The fish all seem to be happier then a pig in mud and I think I'm ready to start letting them breed

thanks thriftyfisher, I have no problem giving credit out, I just want to make sure its ok before I start scanning in everything lol

and yes the old TFH magazines are fantastic...some of my favorite articles are there...granted they were written long before I was even thought of

Would this be ok?

Hello all,

I have a decent size collection of magazines ranging from the 30s up to recently. Would it be ok to scan in some older articles about livebearers? like older as in 30s-80s? maybe 90s? Again not the whole magazine just articles about livebearers there are quite a bit if I remember correctly

Thanks

Re: Using media/plants to help cycle new tanks

I've always had good luck with plants/"old" water from another tank and a few flakes of fish food. let the fish food dissolve, and within a week usually my tank is completely cycled and stable. Of course old media works as well, I keep a sponge filter in my tank just for emergencies and have one frozen which I just de-thaw in extreme cases (haven't used it yet)

this kinda goes along with making the signing up/renewal online but make your sign up form in acrobat so people can simply print it off and write on it then mail it.
