Are they easy to breed? And what are the water requirements?

If I can raise platy fry to adults I'll breed them I just have problems raising the fry to adults or even juveniles. :(

Who does the SMP? Maybe we can get Quintana atrizona back in the hobby being that wild type fish are "in".

If you want something odd try Quintana atrizona (name might be different because I took it from a 50 year old book) This is the description from the book
"A pleasing little livebearer of comparatively recent introduction. In general the color is olive. The dorsal is rather attractive the centre being lemon color, while the front and back edges are dark. The prettiest feature, however is a pleasing pale metallic blue in the ventrals and particularly in the anal fin of the female. She is considerably larger than the male. Somewhat the same sort of blue sometimes flashes from the gill covers. The upper part of the eye is blue.
These fishes are pleasingly active in the aquarium when kept at about 73-80 degrees. On average they have about 20 young at delivery. They are easily raised and make excellent growth if kept at a tempeture of 75 degrees or higher, and given alternating meals of live and prepared foods. It is possible to mature them to breeding size in 16 weeks. To accomplish this the same thing is necessary that we find with most of our young fishes. That is, they ought to have frequent small meals-several a day.
The species lives at peace with other fishes."

Try swordtails they won't hybridize and will make your tank look great I would get some koi lyretails they are my favorite and they like being with other fish.

It's hard to get them to breed however, I don't think the dwarf gene is recessive so it would be hard to get a large fish out of being dwarf.

There was a thread like this on the old forum! Dwarf platys are not stunted they are actual adult fish they are just smaller and no I would not consider them "bad" for the livebearer community. They are just hard to breed.
