Wow there are a lot of questions here. I didn't think the Lev had any sort of affect on the offspring either because it did not affect the fry until just now instead of right after it was added which was several months ago. Yes, the bent spine and the whirling seem related because I will go to the tank and see the fish; it may look emaciated but possibly not. Then the fish will start whirling and then I will quarantine it. Once it gets the S-shaped spine, though, I euthanize it. The spine does not form as lordosis; rather it shows as an extreme case of scoliosis from the superior view of the fish if you are looking at the fish dorsal side up. The lighting is a reef light that is on for several hours per day (no more than 12 hours). I would be more than happy to have a moderator take a look at the post. I have attempted to dissect the fish that have passed away from this but I am unable to find anything that is not within normal limits. I don't think that it is the flake food because the rest of the tanks at home are fed the same food and no one else has the same issues and we even have a guppy tank. If there are any birth defects they just die off immediately in the "tweens" and don't go through the awful whirling and S-shaped spine issue. Thank you everyone for the help!
