Livebearers for Mosquito Control

Free Gambusia affinis have been available in Arizona for years, but the demand is up due to concerns about mosquito-transmitted diseases.
Free fish prove popular in ArizonaThey're used for ponds & rain barrels.
I think most Livebearers would be effective larvae-eaters, although G. affinis is probably tougher and more cold tolerant than most.
Do you use Livebearers for mosquito control? Have you suggested them to people with ponds?
